| AST 1 snowmobile $275 plus snowmobile rental if required plus 12% hst
With the increased use of snowmobiles in our local
area, we are dedicated to providing a starting
point for safety and education to those users who
are going to travel in avalanche terrain. The AST
1 is also a prerequisite for those who want to
go on to do the Avalanche Operations Level 1 – Snowmobile
Course with the Canadian Avalanche Association.
We have easy access to alpine bowls and BC’s
finest snowmobile playground which allows us more
time to learn about our surroundings and the power
of the mountain! All our instructors have many
years of experience guiding snowmobile trips and
exploring in the south coast, which means you should
only have to dig his sled out as much as he does
for you!
Ride your own snowmobile (must be in good running
order), rent one of our Bombardier snowmobiles( conditions
permitting). Machines are available on first come
first serve basis, please book in advance.
· Rental rate is $350/day including fuel, helmet, goggles, gloves,
pants, jackets, boots
· Damage deposit is required, and damages are the riders responsibility
· Must be 16 and have a valid driver’s license in your country
of origin
· Experience is required, with no experience add on a Safe Rider
snowmobile program to build snowmobile experience and riding skills
· Each participant must have a transceiver, probe, shovel and
backpack (rental available as a package or individual, limited supplies please
book in advance), plus outdoor gear, food, water
· Gear list available
Course includes the following:
· 2.5 days of instruction both in classroom and in the field
· Power point, slide show and introduction to the Avaluator, terrain
and weather assessment, rescue skills and equipment.
· Snowmobiling and avalanche safety, trip planning, human factors
and decision making skills
AST 1 ski/board $210 plus transport plus 12% HST
Snowcat costs - $110 for 2 days plus 12% HST (comparable
to 2 days BC lift tickets)
As more and more people travel into avalanche terrain,
the numbers of casualties have been climbing annually.
Start now to get the proper information to help
keep you safe this winter. These courses are designed
to build your knowledge and skill set to allow
you to play “safer” and enjoy your
surroundings. The AST 1 is also a prerequisite
for those who want to go on to do the Avalanche
Operations Level 1 – Ski Course with the
Canadian Avalanche Association.
Travel via snowcat at the start of your day to
access some amazing terrain on Sproatt Mtn. Once
you are dropped off at the top of the Staircase,
strap on your skins, snowshoes, or other mode of
transport and begin learning from our professional
instructor how to self propel yourself in the winter.
All our instructors have many years of experience
guiding, teaching and exploring in the south coast,
as well as the great ranges of BC and beyond. Skiers
and snowboarders alike will have an amazing time
learning and descending some fantastic terrain.
· Each participant must have a transceiver, probe, shovel and
backpack (rental available as a package or individual, limited supplies please
book in advance), plus outdoor gear, food, water
· Must be an intermediate skier or snowboarder, have backcountry
travel equipment (skins, bindings, split board, snowshoes)
· Be physically capable of consecutive days of travel in winter
conditions
Course includes the following:
· 2.5 days of instruction both in classroom and in the field
· Power point, slide show and introduction to the Avaluator, terrain
and weather assessment, rescue skills and equipment.
· Backcountry ski/boarding and avalanche safety, efficient travel
techniques, trip planning, human factors and decision making skills
